Are you looking for an opportunity to use your hands and mind every day, and see the results of your efforts daily?
What we’re looking for in our entry level mechanic:
This is ONE role, which is a perfect fit for someone who loves working with their hands, the outdoors, and meeting new people. This person will travel to jobsites, plan installation of equipment with contractors, and install it in a safe and clean manner.
Important: This position is much more than just a laborer, because we rely on you to embrace training to be able to speak intelligently and with authority about your profession to contractors, engineers, management agencies and random regulatory officials. You are the face of the Company!
Lets get the bad news out of the way first:
- The hours are long. While we strive for 8 hour days, work load demands that we occasionally work 10-12 hour days, for which you will be amply rewarded.
- This job has an on-call component, where you are on a rotation to be on-call 24/7 for a week at a time, responding to customer service calls.
- The work is predominantly outdoors, even in winter.
- The work often involves equipment which has been used in sewage applications.
Now the good stuff:
- This is a fulfilling entry level position with a clear path for growth. We always promote from within first, and have a constant training schedule to upgrade your skills.
- We’re nice people. Many of our employees have been here more than 10 years. In fact, the first test you have to pass before you can work here is a culture fit test. You won’t want to work here,
and we won’t want you to, if you’re not a good fit. - You will have a ton of autonomy- Once you’ve learned the level of quality expected (high) and have the proper skills, I want to turn you loose to get the job done, without a lot of oversight on how
you get it done. - We’re not big on stress, so while we have expectations that the work will get done, we focus on open communication and getting things done correctly the first time around. You may be much
better at your job than others that have done it before you, and we’ll need you to tell us that changes are needed to provide the Customer with the best possible result.
Job requirements:
- You need to be organized, meaning lists, punch lists, maybe even adding things to your list just so you can check it off. That type of person.
- You need to be the type of person who takes pride in doing a job well. Here, good enough rarely is. We are striving to be known as the people you call when you want the best job, not the
cheapest. You need to want to deliver the highest level of customer service. - You need to be able to read, write, and speak in English
- You need to able to lift up to 25 lbs often and up to 75 lbs occasionally
- You need a valid drivers license.
- You need to be able to see the bigger picture and to suggest ways to strengthen our procedures to provide efficiency and growth. For that, you need to be able to slow down. We are not here to
race through a job and deliver sub-standard results. See #2 above. In short, your job will be to assist us in delivering good products with exceptional service, and
suggesting ways to do so more efficiently. That part will always evolve, but never disappear.
Some specific things you’ll get to do:
- Learn to read blueprints
- Learn all about rotating pumping equipment, piping, valves and controls
- Learn to read electrical schematics
- Learn to safely work on all the above
- Respond to customer inquiries with experience and authority
- See a good part of New England on a daily basis !
Compensation:
- This is a full time job
- Wage based on experience (Competitive pay)
- Includes 100% medical and 100% dental to the employee
- This is an on-site job, not virtual
- There is a Company matched 3% 401K contribution after an eligibility period.
- We have 7 paid Holidays per year
- We use an earned time vacation method, so you can take it as days, multiple days, or week(s)
We are looking to bring a new team member on board as soon as possible but will take the amount of time needed to find one who is both a good culture fit and has the abilities we’re looking for.
